Your Weekly Dose of Cooking

This past weekend was filled with Thrift Store finds, Garage sale items, and fun times with family. I have finally gotten my boyfriend into the spirit of going to thrift stores and garage sales. We have gotten a lot of fines (which I will be sharing with you this week).

My boyfriend also made a delicious dipping sauce/dressing for a veggie platter. It would also taste good with fish.

It is called....

Dill Dip

1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp dill weed
1 tsp parsley flakes
1 tsp seasoned salt
1 tsp minced onion
1 dash garlic powder

  • Mix all ingredients together thoroughly.
  • Ready to eat immediately, but tastes best after setting about an hour to let spices mingle.

DIY: Cross Stitching

So this past week I went to a store called Hobby Lobby. I never knew it existed. I thought it was a made up store in books. I have been going to several different Michael's and Joanne's and they had diddly squat for cross stitch projects and ended up with nothing. Not a lot of selections or what I was looking for. So walked out of several stores empty handed. Hobby Lobby is now my favorite store for craft stuff. They had lots of selections and even had ones on sale. I got three different ones for under $20. I am love bargain hunting. Next week will be me showing the one I have chosen to work on first.

Teaser Tuesday

Hi Everyone! I can' wait to share with you one of the books I am reading this week. This book is part of my sister read, The Sisters Wicked Review. I have been reading a lot of books for my sister read (and not sharing a review.) So I will be doing tons of reviews. (Maybe two in one day, we shall see).

Here is how you play this "game".

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Should be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if the like your Teaser!

Your Weekly Dose of Cooking

Hey Everyone! It is so good to get back into writing my blogs... I have got a lot planned this week.

Anyways, the first potluck dinner Trevor and I went to was at my sister Angiee's home. We each had brought our own dishes. Trevor made a taco dip and I had made a macaroni salad. Well Trevor's taco dip was a huge hit. Well when we had our housewarming party, I had Trevor make his "famous" taco dip. This time neither he or I got any. It was gone by the chance we got to it. So today's recipe is....

Trevor's Taco Dip

1 lb ground beef
1 30oz refried beans
1 8oz bottle green taco sauce
1 packet taco seasoning
1 package of  shredded cheddar cheese (you can use Mexican cheese mix)
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup water

  • Cook ground beef in 10" or 12" skillet
  • Drain grease
  • Add taco seasoning and mix
  • Add water to skillet
  • Leave on warm

  • Use 8x12 glass dish
  • Spread the refried beans over entire dish bottom
  • Spread meat over refried beans

  • In a separate bowl, mix sour cream and green taco sauce together
  • Spread mixture over ground beef
  • Sprinkle cheddar Cheese over the mixture
  • Cook 20min in oven at 350 degrees or until bubbling

Hi EVERYONE!!!! I am back! Sorry for all the delays. I know I kinda explain what had happened in my previous blog but let me give you a few more details. As I had said before I was a live in nanny for a family who had 2 little boys. When I started there the boy were out of control. Hitting, spitting, defying authority, not listening. The parents were more of the kind who let their kids do anything. Well when I am there (24/7) the kids get to know me and I them. I see their likes and dislikes and where they need "help". When I worked the boys knew there was a time to goof off and have fun and there was a time to be calm and get things done... And the boy really enjoyed it. Well the parents were wanting the boys to be more "free spirited" and so they found fault in everything I did. The parents even docked my pay and made me change rooms (which were not in our agreement) Since I don't really watch kids for the money I agreed (bad on my part)... I should have seen right then and there that there was going to be problems. After working for this family for 6 months, they found fault (a lame excuse) to get rid of me. Well I called my sister Angiee and told her what was up (all she did was say hello and I started to bawl.) In between me crying and sniffling we came up with a plan. Well we came up with a plan and we did a three way call and called my boyfriend (who at the time I had only started dating (a month). So it was decided that I move in with him. WOW!!! BIG STEP for me. Well since he has 7 cats and a dog it was quite a job to get his house clean. So I was without a job for a week. I found  a wonderful job just watching one little boy as a live out nanny, plus I got paid more (now that I have bills I needed to make more money). While I worked I came home and cleaned the house. For two whole months I was cleaning and organizing (he still had things in boxes!) Anyways now that things are fairly organized and we had our housewarming party, things are starting to get back to normal. I can now relax on my days off.

Not all of my time was filled with cleaning. I am also helping to organize a camping trip and visiting my sister in November! I booked my plane ticket! I am going to spend 2 and half weeks with her! I can't wait! Also my sister (who has the same last name as me) graduated from HIGH SCHOOL! I AM SO PROUD of her!

Please be on the look out for new recipes, books, and projects.
